More pipe in the ground today. Just 3 sections, I think, and the last of the 3 was the "tee" that will have a grate at the top. The next few pics are more digging and filling. Because the space in which they can work is getting quite tight they are now putting in pipe from the low side and not the high side.

Digging..

Filling ..

Digging and filling ..

Another section goes in ..

And is surrounded with gravel. Note that the operator can work the release lever using the top edge of the trench box.

A really smelly old rotten sycamore stump is yanked out.

Digging out to move the trench box. Note that the excavator is driving on plates that were put on top of the trench box. I had been wondering what those were for. The weight of the machine is mostly on the edges of the box.

Moving the trench box.

Fetching the "tee" section of pipe. This was a lot of work to move since there were no hoist holes. They had to put one of the trench box plates inside and do a lot of improvising to move it.

Getting a coat of that nasty sealant.

A lot of gravel underneath ..

And in it goes..

This took a lot of time to get aligned and upright. But here it is..

As I write this on Friday the 14th it is (was) raining quite hard. You can see that a nice sharp cold front went through here

and it dropped quite a bit of rain. Things are sloppy outside and other than a check this morning the crew will not be doing any work today.

There are two more sections of pipe to go, and then all that remains is the riprap, the head-end structure, and then a lot of cleanup and restoration.
